I am from South Korea and obtained my B.F.A. in South Korea. I also studied at the Art Students League of NY and Cercle Artistic de Sant Lluc in Barcelona, Spain, after receiving my M.F.A from The Graduate School of Figurative Art of the New York Academy of Arts in 2001. My work has been shown at numerous exhibitions throughout the U.S, Italy, Spain, Japan, and South Korea since arriving in the U.S. in 1995, including the 2021 New Jersey Arts Annual: ReVision and Respond at The Newark Museum of Art. My work, “Searching,” will be included in the 2022 New Jersey Arts Annual: the 2022 New Jersey Arts Annual: Reemergence exhibition from June 18, 2022, to April 30, 2023, at the New Jersey State Museum. Before the COVID19 pandemic, I had opportunities to lecture, demonstrate, and make critiques, including at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, in September 2019. I have received 32 awards, including The 2018 Spring Residency Program of the ESKFF at Mana Contemporary and a 2011 fellowship grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. My work has been reviewed and published in more than 50 critical articles worldwide.
